Uganda is a Birding Tours destination . The 7 days Birding Tour in Uganda gives you a chance to watch birds of over half of all bird species found in Africa. making it the richest African birding destination.Even within the surroundings of the capital city Kampala, you can record nearly 300 species in a day, and all this is thanks to the richly diverse of habitats from the scenic shores of Lake Victoria to the lush forests of the Albertine Rift and the banks of the mighty Nile River. Though Uganda has only one Endemic bird (Fox’s Weaver), 23 Albertine Endemics occur here and are difficult or even impossible to find somewhere else.

7 DAYS BIRDING TOUR

This 7 days Uganda birding/bird watching adventure will take you to some of the most visited birding areas in the country. From Kampala, you will head to one of the great birding areas that is Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will later on in the safari head to Lake Bunyonyi which is also one of those perfect birding/bird watching destinations in our country. However, you will also take part in other activities as seen below in the detailed itinerary. Here at Simba Africa Expeditions, we always organize the safari to the clients’ preferred activities.

DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: Airport Pickup and transfer to Kampala

On your arrival, you will be received by our representative, who will be an Ever Based guide and driver. He will transfer you to your booked hotel in Kampala our Capital City. You will rest the day off as you ought to be fresh for the next day’s’ activities. Bed and breakfast at the booked accommodations as chosen by you.

Day 2: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Today you will be heading out of Kampala to Queen Elizabeth National Park, after your very early breakfast you will checkout of the hotel. This is done so that you can beat the morning traffic jam that you could find within the capital. So on the way, you will have a quick stop at the Uganda equator to take photographs and buy some souvenirs. You will also carry out the amazing equator experiment. After you will have lunch en route in Mbarara town and then head southwest of the country to the stunning Western Rift Valley. You will arrive in the evening and you will check in and head out to go for a thrilling game drive within the park. Come back from the game drive in time for your dinner accompanied with an overnight as pre-booked.

Day 3: Game drive & Boat ride

The day will be kicked off with a cup of coffee or tea and head out for your game drive by 6:30am through the park. The park not only offers exceptional game viewing that is the wildlife, it however, offers a lot of birders an experience as it has a number of  different bird species. You will drive through the large open grass plains which are habitat to huge flocks of White Stork and the amazing Saddle-Billed Stork, particularly in the migratory season. Raptors common among which are the Brown-Snake Eagle, Bateleur, Marsha Eagle, Walberg’s Eagle, Grey Kestrel and African-harrier-hawk.

Head back to the lodge/ hotel relax a bit as you wait for your lunch. After your lunch, you will take an exciting boat launch to see hundreds of hippopotamus, elephants plus several migratory birds, like the Grey-headed Gulls, African-skimmers, White-winged black-Terns, Pink & white -Backed Pelicans, Mourning Dove and the Water Dikkops among others. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Meal

Day 4: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Today you will be transferring to Lake Bunyonyi, Uganda Birding site also known as the “Little Switzerland of Uganda”, so you will wake up have breakfast and then check out of the hotel/ Lodge. On arrival, you will marvel at Lake Bunyonyi which is Uganda’s deepest lake located adjacent to the borders. On a clear day, you will catch sight of the marvelously shaped volcano; Mt Muhavura. Day 5: Islands Visit with an afternoon Nature Walk

After breakfast, you will hire a local canoe to explore the environs while on water as you float quietly towards the various small Islands to enjoy the prolific birding life. You will later return for lunch and head to Mukoni Village for more Bird watching during the nature walk. You will walk past tiny farms and pleasure in the impressive view as you search for various bird species. In general, you may see close to 50 diverse bird species on this thrilling walk, among which will be the Swamp Flycatcher, African Hobby, Bronze-chested Sun bird, Scarlet-chested, the White-headed Saw-wing and Red-chested Sun birds, Black Kite. You will head back to the lodge for dinner plus overnight and call it a day.

Day 6: Head Back to Kampala

As today is the last day at Lake Bunyonyi, you will have your breakfast and check out of the hotel or  lodge. You will be driving back to Kampala and you will also be having lunch en route on the way and arriving in capital Kampala in the late afternoon. You will be dropped off to the accommodations used at the beginning of your safari for your dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Brief City tour with Airport Drop off

Today you will wake up to some amazing breakfast and then check out of the hotel as you will not be returning from your brief city tour. You will have lunch and then have a drop off to the airport for your return flight back home.
