 15 DAYS SAFARI IN UGANDA

 

Highlights.

This safari will start with your airport pick up and it will give you the opportunity to visit some of Uganda’s national parks that is Lake Mburo national park, Queen Elizabeth Np, Kibale forest Np, Bwindi Impenetrable Np, Mgahinga NP and Murchison falls National Park. You will also visit Ziwa Rhino sanctuary in Nakasongola, Bigodi wetland, source of the Nile and Mabira forest.

 

 

Day 1: Arrival in Uganda
Welcome to Uganda! On your arrival at Entebbe International airport you will be picked by our waiting driver guide who will transfer you to the Hotel in Kampala the capital city of Uganda.

Day 2: Transfer to Lake Mburo and stop-over at the Equator
After your breakfast, you will embark on your journey to Lake Mburo National park which is Uganda’s  smallest national park with a 260 square kilometres (100 sq mi), a journey that will take approximately 4 -5 hours. You will have a stopover at the Equator where you will do a water experiment to see the middle of the southern hemisphere and the northern hemisphere. You will also visit the craft shops and after proceed to lake Mburo National park for lunch..  Lake Mburo National Park is located in Western Uganda. The park is situated approximately 240 kilometres (150 mi), by road, west of Kampala, Uganda’s capital and largest city. The park has a variety of animals such as zebras, giraffes, impala, buffaloes, and over three hundred (300) bird species. Late afternoon you will have a boat cruise along Lake Mburo. This will enable you view different aquatic animals and birds along the shores of this lake.

Day3: Game drive and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for relaxation
After an early morning breakfast, you will have a morning game drive and animals to be seen include groups of zebras, giraffes, antelopes, and may more. After you will drive for around 3 hours to Lake Bunyonyi for lunch and relaxation. Lake Bunyonyi is referred to as a Place of “many little birds” and lies in south western Uganda between Kisoro and Kabale close to the border with Rwanda. It is one of the few lakes in the region that is said to be free from bilharzias and safe for swimming. Relax as you enjoy the beautiful views, swim and do private nature walks around the place.

Day 4: Transfer to Mgahinga gorilla National park

After an early morning breakfast, you will depert Lake Bunyonyi for Mgahinga national park for the Batwa cultural experience a two hours journey. Learn about the lives of the indigenous Batwa on the Batwa Trail. Local guides take you through the 8km gentle trail in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, demonstrating their traditional ways of life along the way, including hunting, gathering honey, fire making and fetching water. The trail culminates with a moving performance in the Garama Cave, an important spiritual and cultural site for the Batwa.

Day 5: Golden monkey trekking Mgahinga National park

After an early morning breakfast, Trek through the bamboo forests in search of the rare golden monkeys, endemic to this region. Pass spectacular vegetation and scenery on your way.

An optional activity for the evening is the George walk or has the whole afternoon at leisure as you enjoy the significance of the park.

Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi
Today after your breakfast, you will embark on your journey to the famous Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This park is mostly famous for the rare mountain gorillas and the drive to the park is incredibly scenic, passing through various local villages and the lush green countryside & hills which characterize so much of south western Uganda.
Once you are in the forest park, it is one of the richest ecosystems in Africa and the diversity of species is a feature of the park. It provides habitat for 120 species of mammals, 348 species of birds, 220 species of butterflies, 27 species of frogs, chameleons, geckos and many endangered species. Floristically Bwindi is amongst the most diverse forests in East Africa, with more than 1,000 flowering plant species including 163 species of trees and 104 species of ferns.

Day 7: Gorilla experience
Today you go to track the rare mountain gorillas. After a briefing from your ranger guide, begin tracking the mountain gorillas through the ancient Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. This can take a couple of hours or a whole day depending on the location of the apes. Keep an eye out for forest species such as buffaloes, elephants, black fronted duikers and bush bucks. NB; don’t forget to carry your packed lunch. It is a humbling experience to stand just meters from man’s distant cousins as they eat rest, play and bond with their young ones. Follow the mountain gorillas as they range freely in the impenetrable forest and discover their gorgeous natural habitat and the many species they share it with.

Day 8: Drive to Queen Elizabeth National park
Today you will start your six hours journey to the famous Queen Elizabeth National park. The Park covers an area of about 1978 km2; its position provides a magnificent view of the rift valley floor that occupies Lake Edward and Lake Gorge. The park has one of the highest bio diversity ratings of any National park in the world as its well known to be habitat to about 95 mammals along with 612 species of birds. You will stay in this park for two nights.

Day 9: Safari/Game drive and boat trip
After an early morning breakfast, you will go for your first game drive through the park. Your guide will help you spot the plethora of wildlife found in the Park, You will be able to spot a lot of African wildlife for example: elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, different species of antelopes and many tropical birds. After lunch, you will take a boat safari along the Kazinga Channel. Here, you will see a lot of hippos more than you can possibly imagine as well as a variety of other animals which come to the waterhole to drink or bathe. You can expect to see: Buffalos, Crocodiles, bathing Elephants, and a range of beautiful birds. This will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of your tour.

Day 10: Game drive and transfer to Kibale Forest National park
After an early morning breakfast, you will have your second game drive through the ishasha sector in Queen Elizabeth National park in search for the tree climbing lions. The game ranger will help you spot these wonderful animals only found in that national park in the whole of Uganda. After lunch, you will start your journey to Kibale Forest National Park also known as the capital of the primates.  The journey to the home of the primates will take you about 4 hours.

Day 11: Chimpanzee trekking
Today you will visit our cousins in Kibale National Park on an activity known as chimpanzee tracking. This park has one of the most lovely and varied tracts of tropical forest in Uganda. The Forest is interspersed with patches of grassland and swamp, dominant in the northern and central parts of the park on an elevated plateau. The park is home to a total of 70 mammal species, mostly 13 species of primates which includes the chimpanzees, monkeys, baboons, the bush baby which is the smallest primate and many more. It also has over 375 species of birds.
You will track the chimps in the wilderness and once you find them, you will be given a full hour with them as you enjoy how they enjoy the wild, bond with their young ones and how they spend their life as if no one is watching.

 Day 12: Bird watching and drive to Murchison Falls National park
After early morning breakfast, you will visit bigodi wetlands best known for bird watching. With the help of your guide, you will look for the different species of birds in this wetland. You will then have lunch and after depart for Murchison falls National Park which is Uganda’s biggest National Park. The journey will depend on the number of stops. On your way to Murchison Falls, you will pass through small villages where you can be able to interact with local people and see the tea plantations. You will have lunch en route. While at the park, you will experience the uniqueness of the Park because of the rich diversity of the wild animals such as Elephants, Antelope i.e. Water bucks, water bucks, and,many more .Other animals include, Giraffes, hyenas, Lions, Leopards, buffaloes and many others.

 Day 13: Game Safari & boat trip.
This morning you will have your early breakfast and go for your game drive that will involve eye-to-eye with the African animal Kingdom; buffalo, giraffes, lions, leopards, elephants and a vast number of tropical birds. In the afternoon, you will take a boat trip towards the bottom of Murchison Falls that takes up to 2 to 3 hours on the Victoria Nile. You will then have a chance to spot hippos, buffalo, water birds, crocodiles and much more other wild life. You will then drive back to Hotel for Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 14: Visit Top of the falls and drive to Masindi.

After breakfast, you will visit or hike to the top of Murchison falls and after you will travel to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Nakasongola for the game walk to search for the white Rhinos with an experienced Ranger guide. Uganda used to have a wide range of Rhinos in the 1960s but the poaching during Amin’s era resulted in the disappearance of these beautiful animals. Rhino Fund Uganda was founded in 1998 to re-introduce both black and white Rhinos in the country and this objective has been fulfilled.

After the trekking, you will have lunch and then travel back to Kampala.

You will be transferred to the airport to catch up with your flight.
